Onda Eau de Parfum - Vero Profumo English Review

Bergamot, citron, mandarin, ginger, coriander, basil, passion fruit, iris, ylang-ylang, honey, vetiver Bourbon, patchouli, musk, cedar wood

It's interesting how Vero Kern conducts her fragrance line personally and diferent from the standard practices of the market. In a inverse way, her Extraits de Parfum line recently was extended into EDP versions that aren't just less concentrated versions of her intense and original ideas. You can see that there's a concern with the integration of new smells to the original creations without loosing the identity, with a process that unite the three fragrances with a common smell through their evolutions using the exotic and fruity touch of the passion fruit, that didn't exist in the first extraits. On Onda, you have the impression that the EDP concentration gave you a panoramic vision of the original extrait aroma. This doesn't tone down the intensity, but lets you understand other contours of the exotic and dense universe of Onda that you couldn't see at first. Is still possible to notice the spicy dry smell of the original but in way that is less challenging to the nose. After that spicy beginning, the passion fruit takes the place and conducts with the vetiver the aromatic view of the other details, present in smaller details. With so many outstanding aromas, the citric opening is the more difficult to perceive, it ends being lost be the exotic passion fruit and by the dry spices. The passion fruit reveals itself as fruity, slightly bitter, and it does a good combination with the honey sweetness and the dry leafy vetiver.  The subtle floral side of Onda stays at background, creating a powdery aura that is a little bit masked by the dry woody base, which is also a little bit salty too and that gets only intenser when you get your nose close of where you applied it or when your skin warms up. With so many details, the mossy and leathery accents of the original extrait are lost, but they gave space to see that other face of the dark and exotic evolution of Onda on skin. Onda EDP has a longevity as good as your extrait precursor and it's different but without either loosing the focus or diluting its identity.
