The first impression that you have from Providence Perfume brand is a care with the design aspect of all the elements of the brand, from the bottle to the fragrance. The owner and perfumer, Charna Ethier, seems to neitheir adopt an obvious nor an exotic aura to her fragrances, going instead on a chic aesthetic which seems to be clean in the sens of blending and controlling all the essences that are used to produce each inspiration. Musk Noveau is an example of this aspect of her line by using intense notes to extract from them a musky, light, cream texture.
Musk Noveau is like a challenge of doing a musk fragrance without using musk as a core note of the composition. Instead of that the base notes are modeled to evoke in parts the cream texture of the musk and in parts its animalic nuance, here treated to not show a dirty or fecal face. With this providence creates an abstract incensed, woody and creamy aura, a little bit evocative of natural fragrances but an aura that does makes sens in what she proposes. On this base she creates a dynamic of notes that develop in parallel on skin to enhance the musky scensations. At the first minutes you detect a quick dry pepperiness with a discreet bitter greensss. After that the idea changes to a roasted aroma produced by the use coffee. Coffee is mixed with a waxy sweet impression produced by beeswax and champaca, a waxy aspect that morphs slowly into the sheer woody, balmy and incensed aura of the base.
Musk Noveau is not an intense experience. It's more of a skinscent aura with discreet details that must be apreciated as they are noticed on skin, cause some of its details are just used to give some color to the main theme. It's not, tough, a tame skinscent experience that you would expect on a musk friendly idea. Avoiding the cliches, Providence offers a good musk composition without using any musk at all, which is already a good reason to try it.
